Apple Streusel Coffeecake

With fall being my favorite season I couldn’t help but get a jump start on what I think fall is all about. Apples and baking are a huge part of fall and this recipe does both justice. This recipe is super moist, crumbly and delicious. If your like me and just happen to stumble upon your neighbors apples try out this recipe, you won’t be disappointed.



Apple Streusel Coffeecake

  • roughly 5 cups apple cored, peeled, chopped
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup applesauce(or oil)
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Streusel topping(optional)

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup old fashion oats
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
  • few tablespoons softened butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
  1. Preheat oven to 350º F.
  2. Lightly oil a 13x9x2-inch pan.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine apples with sugar let sit for 10 minutes
  4. Stir in applesauce, vanilla, and egg. Sift together flour, soda, and cinnamon; stir into apple mixture about 1/3 at a time just enough to moisten dry ingredients.
  5. Turn batter into pan. sprinkle with streusel Bake 35 to 40 minutes. Cool cake slightly before serving.
